Miles are a number. Running is the thing.

Sell a High-Mileage Car

Dealers flinch at 200,000 miles. We mostly don't — because in the Central Valley, a high-mileage Toyota or Honda that starts every morning and drives straight is a car with a line of buyers behind it. If your car runs and isn't trashed, it's wanted here at any age and any mileage. The one combination we pass on is old AND damaged together — age plus a wreck, never age alone.

Get my guaranteed offer

The offer we make is the offer you get for 7 days, when the car matches its description. If hidden or unreported damage is found at pickup, any adjustment is shown with photo evidence before you decide.

The headline rule: older Japanese runners are wanted at any age

Camrys, Corollas, Civics, Accords, Tacomas — the cars that actually change hands in Fresno are dominated by high-mileage Japanese runners, because they keep working and the Valley knows it. Parts are everywhere, every mechanic knows them, and a 240,000-mile Toyota that runs is transportation somebody needs this week. So we don't price these cars off the odometer alone. We price them off the thing that actually matters: does it start, does it drive straight and cool, and is it intact?

  • Starts reliably, every time, without drama
  • Drives straight, no overheating, no major leaks left unaddressed
  • Interior worn is fine — interior trashed is not
  • Trucks count double: a high-mileage work truck that runs is always in demand

Maintenance records help and we'll note them, but they're not required — plenty of honest high-mileage cars have gloveboxes full of nothing.

Where the line is: old plus damaged

Age alone never disqualifies a car here. What ends the conversation is age combined with damage — an older car that's also crashed is a car whose repair exceeds it, and that's the rule on our damaged car page too. The other two hard lines are the standing ones: a truly blown engine and a transmission that's completely gone. Everything else about a high-mileage car — the miles, the wear, the faded paint, the fact that it sat for a few months and now needs a jump — is a condition to price, not a reason to walk away.

Sat for months? That's part of this page too

High-mileage cars often end up parked — a newer car arrived, the old one got kept 'just in case,' and just-in-case turned into a year. A car that sat and won't start now is usually a dead battery, not a dead car, and that's still our category. If it sat and the tires went flat and the registration lapsed, all of that is priceable too. What we need is the honest version: how it ran when you parked it, and what it does now when you turn the key.

High-mileage questions

Will you buy a car with over 200,000 miles?

Yes — especially a Toyota, Honda, or other Japanese car, and any truck, as long as it runs and isn't trashed. Mileage is priced into the offer like any other condition item; it is not a disqualifier. An older Japanese car that starts and drives is wanted here at any mileage.

My car has 280,000 miles but runs great. Is it actually worth anything?

If it genuinely runs great, yes — running condition is the value driver at that mileage, not the number on the odometer. Cars like that are the backbone of the Valley's used-car market. Send the intake and describe what still works and what's worn; you'll get a written offer, not a lecture about the miles.

Does high mileage mean I'll get a lowball offer?

It means the miles are part of the price, the same way condition always is. The offer is written and guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description — no games at the curb, and if we found hidden damage beyond what you reported, you'd see photo evidence before deciding anything.

My high-mileage car doesn't start anymore. Now what?

Depends on why. If it died from sitting — a dead battery is the usual story — that's still our category; tell us what it does when you turn the key. If the engine itself is done, that's outside the program, and our won't-run guide explains the line honestly.
