For NAS Lemoore sailors & families

Sell Your Car Before a PCS Move

Orders don't wait for a private sale to work out. If you're transferring, deploying, separating, or retiring out of NAS Lemoore, we buy the car that isn't making the trip — the second car, the one with the out-of-state title, the one your spouse needs to sell while you're gone — with a guaranteed offer and free pickup in Lemoore and Hanford.

The offer we make is the offer you get for 7 days.*

The price holds as long as the vehicle, title, mileage, and condition match what you submitted. If hidden or unreported damage is found at pickup, we’ll make the adjustment and give you a counter-offer on the spot — and the decision is yours.

Orders run the calendar — not the listing sites

A PCS move compresses everything into a few weeks: movers, checkout inspections, a report date that doesn't move. A private sale runs the opposite direction — photos, listings, strangers, financing that falls through. Around NAS Lemoore, that mismatch has a shape we see constantly:

  • Orders overseas, where the Navy ships one car — and the second car needs a decision
  • A deployment that leaves a car sitting for months, losing value in the driveway
  • Two cars becoming one household car at the next duty station
  • Separating, retiring, or getting out — and the car isn't part of the next chapter

That's the sale this page exists for. We buy in Lemoore, Lemoore Station, and Hanford — where most NAS families actually live — and the whole process is built to finish before your date, not after it.

How selling before a PCS move works

01

Tell us the car — and your date

Complete the one intake form, and tell us your report or transfer date when we talk. Our offer is guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description, so you can lock a number early and schedule pickup around the movers instead of racing them.

02

We sort the military paperwork

Out-of-state titles are normal here — service members keep their home-state registration while stationed in California, and we buy on titles from any state. Still owe on the car? The lien payoff runs through the sale; start it early, because a lienholder's title release can take days. A spouse selling while you're deployed? A power of attorney that covers vehicle sales works — we verify it before anyone signs.

03

We pick it up where it sits

Base-adjacent housing in Lemoore Station, a driveway in Hanford, a storage unit — we come to the car, complete the transfer with you or your spouse, pay you, and tow it free. File the release of liability (REG 138) the same day, and the car is off your checklist for good.

Still owe on the car? The payoff mechanics are the same as any lien sale: how selling a car with a lien works.

Ship it, store it, or sell it — the honest version

Ship it. On overseas orders, the government ships one privately owned vehicle. If the car is worth keeping and it's your primary car, shipping is usually the right call — this page is for the car that doesn't make that cut.

Store it. Storage at the base is genuinely cheap — the MWR deployment lot runs about $25–$30 for a deployment — so for a car you love and a short deployment, storing can make sense. The costs that bite aren't storage fees: it's a car deteriorating while it sits, insurance and registration still running, and a PCS or separation waiting on the other side of the deployment.

Sell it. Selling wins when it's the second car, when orders are taking you somewhere the car isn't going, or when you're getting out. And it wins early: a sale finished before the movers arrive is one less deadline in the last week.

Not sure which way your car falls? Get the offer anyway — it's guaranteed for 7 days with no obligation, and a real number makes the ship, store, or sell math a lot clearer.

PCS car-sale questions

Can I sell a car with an out-of-state title?

Yes — it's the norm around a military base, not an exception. California lets service members stationed here keep their home-state title and registration, and we buy cars titled in any state as long as the title is in your name (or your spouse's, with the right paperwork). If your car is titled and registered in another state too, that's routine for us.

Can my spouse sell our car while I'm deployed?

Usually yes. If your spouse is on the title, they can sell. If the title is only in your name, a power of attorney that specifically covers selling a vehicle lets them sign for you — we check the POA before the sale so nothing gets unwound later. No POA yet? Base legal assistance can set one up, and it's worth doing before any deployment, car or no car.

I still owe on the car. Can I sell it before I transfer?

Yes — the payoff runs through the sale the same as any lien sale: we pay the lienholder, the title releases, and any value above the payoff is yours. Start earlier than you think you need to: lienholders can take days to release a title, and that's the one delay that can squeeze a report date.

How close to my report date can I do this?

Tell us the date up front and we schedule around it — pickup can be set for the week you need the driveway empty, and the offer holds for 7 days once it's made. The tighter the timeline, the more the paperwork matters: a car with the title in hand can move fastest; a lien payoff or a POA check needs a few extra days of runway.
