Selling your Z in Fresno & Clovis

Zs accumulate miles quietly in the Valley: long Highway 99 commutes, cars handed down to new drivers, and daily drivers that have simply outlasted two or three other cars in the same family. A Nissan showing 180,000 or 220,000 miles isn’t unusual here, and it isn’t a problem for us — high mileage is normal for this model and priced into every offer we make.

This span covers three rear-drive Z generations: the 350Z (2003–2009) that revived the line with the 3.5L VQ V6, the shorter, sharper 370Z (2009–2020) with a 3.7L V6, and the current Z from 2023 with a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 and an available six-speed manual. NISMO performance versions topped each generation, and roadster variants were offered on the 350Z and 370Z before the current car arrived as a coupe only.

The usual trigger is a shop quote: oil consumption and gallery gaskets (VQ engines) is common on the Z, and concentric slave cylinder failure (manual cars) isn’t far behind it. Faced with that bill, most owners would rather sell the car as it sits. That’s our whole business — we price the problems in and make one clear offer, guaranteed for 7 days.

Nissan Z at a glance: 2003–2025 model years · sports coupe · every trim considered — what matters is that it starts, drives, and has a working key.

Common Z problems we still buy

These are the issues Z owners call us about most. None of them end the conversation — they’re priced in:

  • Oil consumption and gallery gaskets (VQ engines). The 350Z's higher-revving VQ35 variants are known for oil consumption, and the 3.7L VQ can lose oil pressure from failed internal gallery gaskets, a labor-heavy repair announced by low-pressure warnings. Engine-level bills on an aging sports car lead many owners to sell rather than rebuild.
  • Concentric slave cylinder failure (manual cars). Manual 370Zs route the clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing, where it fails and leaves the clutch pedal on the floor, requiring transmission removal to replace. Because the gearbox has to come out anyway, owners often sell the car instead of funding the job.
  • Fuel starvation and differential wear (track use). Z cars driven hard can suffer fuel starvation in long right-hand corners on low fuel, and viscous limited-slip differentials wear into effectively open units with age. Sorting a hard-used car's driveline costs enthusiast-level money, which is why such examples are commonly sold as projects.
  • Twin-turbo and heat issues (2023 and later). The current Z's twin-turbo V6 packs dense plumbing into a small engine bay, and heat management, turbo oil lines, and sensor faults are dealer-level diagnosis on a young model. Owners outside warranty facing turbo-system work frequently decide to sell rather than keep the car long-term.

Paperwork problems count too. If your Z failed its smog check, the registration has expired, or the title is lost or in someone else’s name, those pages explain how we handle each case — in most of them, we can still buy the car. We buy Zs all over Fresno and Clovis and pay at pickup, with free towing inside the service area.

How we price Nissans, honestly: the trucks, the Pathfinder and Xterra, and the Z are the strong side of the brand. The cars are priced on the state of the transmission — the CVT's real condition and the miles on it decide the number, and we will show our work at review. A Nissan that drives right is a Nissan we want.

How selling your Z works here

Step 1

Tell us about your Z

One short form — year, model, mileage, and 12 quick condition questions. Honest answers are what let us hold the offer.

Step 2

Get one clear offer

We check the real market for your exact Z and send one offer — no instant lowball from a computer. If the vehicle matches its description, the offer is guaranteed for 7 days.

Step 3

We pick it up, you get paid

Free pickup in the Fresno–Clovis area, often as soon as the next day when scheduling allows. You sign, get paid at pickup, and hand over the keys — we handle the smog and DMV paperwork after the purchase.

One honest limit: the car does need to start and drive, and have a working key. Fixable problems are our specialty; a car that can’t move under its own power isn’t a fit.

Z seller questions

My Z’s title is lost or in someone else’s name. Can I sell it?

Often, yes. Tell us the title situation in the application — lost titles, titles signed by a previous owner, and lien paperwork are situations we walk through every week, and we’ll explain the correct next step before scheduling pickup.

What Z years do you buy?

We buy the Nissan Z across the 2003–2025 range, and we’ll look at older examples case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage Z that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.

How fast can you pick up my Z, and when do I get paid?

Pickup can be as soon as tomorrow in the Fresno–Clovis area when scheduling allows, and you’re paid at pickup — after a quick check that the vehicle matches its description, you sign, get paid, and hand over the keys.

My Z failed smog and the registration is expired. Can I sell it?

Usually, yes. A failed smog check and back registration are two of the most common Z situations we handle — tell us about them in the application and they’re priced into the offer instead of stopping the sale. We handle the smog and DMV side after the purchase.
